Mega Man IV is a solid addition to the Gameboy lineup, just behind V. The game fixes some aspects from 4 and 5, but botches others at the same time. Long gaps, repetitious levels and the lack of any real polish drops the score down.
The weapons work well with the small screen estate, and some of them are better than their NES counterparts. Robot Masters are alright, nothing mind-blowing what comes to the changes that have been administered. If you enjoyed the NES games, maybe bring this game with you for a field trip. If you didn’t like 4 and 5 to begin with, maybe there is still something to like here for you. At least go and try the knockback out from the new charged buster.
